It may be a little late for ayear-ender special, but I just glad I found the time to compile some of thebest images that PhotoPitManila.com was able to create from the year that hadpassed.

2011 was a great year for me andmy newly found passion, music photography. The photos in this post may as wellbe proof of why it was a great year, and I am thankful to have been able tophotograph artists I did not think I would be able to shoot when I firststarted in this field of photography. I wasn’t able to cover all the concertsand gigs last year, but when I was given the chance to do so in some, I madesure I went home with at least a few good photos.

Thank you to those who always paythis site a visit whenever there’s a new post and sharing it with friends! Youdon’t know how much it means to me. And to those who send emails and messageson how this website has inspired them to take up music photography, I thankyou! You inspire me to do better!

MYX Mo! 2011 @ Marikina Sports Park

MYX, dubbed as the “No.1 music channel in the Philippines” gathered the country’s best music artists to a yet again very successful MYX Mo! which is on its 10th year this 2011. “Log on, Rock On.” is this year’s tagline for the event as MYX Mo! was made available to the cyberworld through live webcast of the concert. The Marikina Sports Park was filled with concert goers which were eager to see the best of OPM including Chicosci, Pupil, Wolfgang, Itchyworms, Pedicab, Tanya Markova, Slapshock, General Luna and a lot more.

Here are some photos from the recently concluded 2011 STAGG Awards that was held at the Music Museum last November 10, 2011. The event was presented by The Music Source, "the youngest yet most liked store in the Philippines". I got invites to the event and didn't think I would be able to take photos, I originally planned to just watch and enjoy the show. Well there were times that I just had to take my camera out of the bag and here I present some photos taken from my seat. Have a look! :)

30 Seconds to Mars Live in Manila

No downpour can stop this war.. it’s 30 Seconds to Mars live in Manila!!!

Yes, there was heavy rainfall before and all throughout the concert but the concertgoers could all care less about the rain, everybody was going to see Jared, Tomo and Shannon rock out Manila for a one night concert! 30 Seconds to Mars brought war to the Mindanao parking grounds of Trinoma by performing their hits “A Beautuful Lie”, “The Kill”, “Night of the Hunter”, “Closer to the Edge” among others. Jared Leto was amazing live, and very into the Manila crowd. Leto performed an acoustic version of the “The Kill” under the rain, with a few people from the audience at his back. I’m pretty sure everyone’s favorite part of the concert was when the band played “Kings and Queens” during their encore performance with Jared picking out random people from the crowd to go up the stage to sing the song alongside the band. Okay less talk now here are a few photos from the event! Enjoy and don’t hesitate to “like” this post for you to be able to share this Mars experience to your friends!

Gear: Canon EOS 60D with a Canon 70-200mm f4 L lens

The fact that it was raining all night and shooting within a limited time and from a fixed spot about 20 meters from the stage made this the hardest and most challenging shoot that I’ve ever experienced since I started shooting shows. But it proved to be the best shoot experience for me so far despite of it being so tiring! Special thanks to my mentor Niña Sandejas for letting me borrow the lens and camera raincoat! They proved to be very very useful for this shoot! I wouldn’t have gotten these shots without them! Many thanks also to Mon Tapangco for always being open to lend his “baby” 24-70 :D

Mayday Parade live in Manila

The “small shop with a big sound” isn’t just a tagline for Sonic Boom Philippines’ merch shop Built by Sonic, as it just proved itself by delivering a BIG musical event to local concertgoers and bringing Mayday Parade to Manila for a one night and first time concert in the Philippines. Mayday Parade fans stormed the Meralco Theatre as early as 5pm just to see their favorite band live. Mayday Parade Live in Manila was brought to you by Sonic Boom Philippines and co-presented by NICK AUTOMATIC™ and JB MUSIC.

American Idol season 9 champion Lee Dewyze pays a visit to Manila to promote his post-Idol album entitled “Live it Up”. Here are photos from the press conference and his performance at the Venice Piazza in Mckinley Hill. Enjoy!

It was my first time to shoot in Araneta and being the excited first-timer that I was the first thing I did was to take a video of the audience before the gig started. Where were you last night? Well I was at SM Megamall all afternoon and stayed until night to witness as how the mall participated in the celebration of Earth hour. SM Megamall turned off their lights and provided the mall goers great music from sets of Up Dharma Down and Hidden Nikki. I was able to take photos during the UDD set and here they are.. enjoy! :)

There's no better feeling than to shoot a band for the first time, and I've got to say I enjoyed Pentavia's set both by listening/watching while taking photographs! When Vlad (vocalist) went to the stage with a case of Red Horse beer I should have taken a hint of what was going to happen. He drank everything in it and occasionally threw beer at the crowd. Good thing my reflexes didn't fail me and I was able to protect my camera when he did that haha!

And I just learned that it's the band's anniversary. Happy 11 years of rock PENTAVIA!

Sugarfree "Paalam Pilipinas" Tribute Video by Pichan Cruz

Sugarfree gave their fans one final gig and gave their final bow last March 1, at the Eastwood City Central Plaza. I wasn't able to take photos during the event, I attended the gig as a fan, because that is what I am. I told myself that if this is the last time I'd be seeing Sugarfree playing live, I'd be all eyes and ears. While everyone had their eyes set toward the stage, I looked the other way, and saw love. I saw, heard and felt the love of the Sugarfree fans for the band. This video contains footage from the concert, awesomely shot and edited by a good friend and colleague from Project MV, Pichan Cruz. Enjoy!

This is for all those who had loved and continue to love Sugarfree.

For those who weren't able to watch but had hoped to, this video will make you feel like you were there.

Hello! Proudmary is a band from Bulacan on which members happen to be friends of mine. I have been posting photos of well known bands in this blog but I would love to dedicate a post for my friends. My college friends and I have just started a project for the band; we are currently making a music video for Proudmary out of random videos of them at gigs and rehearsals.
